About Us

Company History

Greg and Dee Dee moved to Palmdale in 1998. The Antelope Valley, with a cumulative population of around 450,000, presented a great business opportunity to build a dynamic and successful practice meeting many of the professional accounting needs of the Antelope Valley. In 2007, the Bartons moved to Palm Springs, where they opened their second office.

Prior to this practice Greg served as a CFO and IPO specialist for an environmental manufacturing company in Long Beach. He owned and built another accounting firm, Barton and Associates from 1985 through 1992. Greg received his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Cal State Fullerton in 1979 and received his certification in Public Accounting in 1985. Dee Dee is an active participant in the management of the firm.

Greg and Dee Dee take pride in having built their business from the ground up. They value the ability to run a successful company while helping other individuals and businesses to prosper financially.

Greg and Dee Dee have two daughters, three dogs and a dozen parrotfish.

Dee Dee has served as a Lay Eucharist Minister and done occasional lay preaching for the Episcopal Church. She has been a 20-year member of a Los Angeles Book Group, is an avid walker, as well as a school advocate and community activist. Her favorite mode of transportation is her little electric GEM car. Her favorite travel destination is anywhere there is a tropical beach and piña coladas.

Dee Dee's favorite activity is to entertain for her family and friends. She feels that planning a party is the solution to all of life's challenges.

Zelda Childress

Staff Accountant and Licensed Tax Preparer

Born and raised in Georgetown, Guyana South America, Zelda immigrated to the United States as young student who later became a naturalized citizen. She has lived in New York City, Philadelphia, Hawaii and has made Southern California her home for the past twenty-three years. Zelda has two adult daughters.

Zelda started her career in the public accounting field and then left to work in both the non-profit and retail arena. She has returned to her roots as Staff Accountant for Gregory D. Barton, CPA. Her areas of expertise include reconciling accounts, preparation of payroll tax returns, sales, and individual tax returns.

In her spare time Zelda reads, keeps up with current events, and spends time with good friends, volunteering in the community when possible.

Troy McFadin

Office Manager

Troy was born and raised in the Texas Hill Country.  His wide range of skills and eclectic resume are valued assets that will enable us to provide superlative service for our valued clients.

Troy served in the United States Navy as an Operations Specialist, where his skills included radar operation, navigation, and communications.  Most of his time in service was spent aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson.

In 1997, Troy’s career was launched in Business Administration with a mid-size law firm in San Francisco’s Financial District.  His first year was spent as a Paralegal working on complex litigation cases but quickly evolved into Human Resources and Operations/Facilities Management.  Eight years later he decided to move back to Southern California where other jobs have included Benefits Administrator for a local casino (overseeing a full benefit package for more than 1300 employees) and Office Manager/Bookkeeper for a real estate development company.

Troy and his partner Jon-Eric are pleased to call Palm Springs home. Spare time is spent cycling and hiking.

Debbie Richard

Accountant

Debbie brings depth and breadth to all aspects of Bookkeeping for our clients. She served as a Branch Manager for a Fortune 500 Company for five years, as well as owned a Plumbing Construction Company. She brings advanced expertise to Excel and is experienced in Financial Statements, Bonding Applications and SBA Applications. She is even a Quick Books Pro Advisor, which fully complements her amazing set of skills.

Debbie and her husband Gary love all things "outdoors:" waterskiing, jet skiing, boating, camping and hiking. Additionally, when she isn't balancing the books, Debbie needlepoints and makes fabulous cheesecake.

Jessica Davy

Bookkeeper

Jessie is a life long Antelope Valley local resident, who has been developing her expertise in all aspects of Bookkeeping for the past 15 years.  The clients she has served range from retail to construction, manufacturing to medical.

Jessie and her husband of 11 years, who is from South Africa, have three active, little boys.  Jessie also owns and rides three horses!  It is hard to believe that she has spare time to pursue her passions of landscape photography and music.  (She plays the guitar and piano.)  Those who work with her are certainly glad that Jessie has a great sense of organization and time management.

Ken Meyer

Virtual Assistant

Ken Meyer’s varied career path began as a free-lance musician in Los Angeles, where he played bassoon for orchestras and studios, and served on the music faculty of Cal State Long Beach. He traded his musical interests for administrative experiences at the UCLA Alumni Association and California School of Professional Psychology.

Ken’s concern over the socio-economic and culturally driven disparities in educational outcomes led him to pursue both elementary multiple subject teaching and tier one administrative credentials, which he applied as an elementary school teacher in South Los Angeles and as a Literacy Coach in Boyle Heights. Volunteer involvements have included more than ten years service as a Big Brother, President of Pacific Serenades and the Celestial Opera Company boards, and mediation services at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Ken holds a BA in Music from UCLA and a Master’s in Behavioral Science from Cal State Dominguez Hills. Ken, his partner and two children recently liberated themselves from Southern California and now enjoy a much damper and greener life near Seattle.
